How do you feel?
Her name is Maria. She was created by a famous robot expert, Clement. She had a human shape, a heavenly voice, an attractive figure, and a beautiful face that could make people dumbfounded.
She was a robot.
“How do you feel?”
This was the first sentence she heard from the world. A kind, and gentle voice, it was from her master.
Sometimes she wondered why her master, Clement, asked her questions like that. Usually, robot did not have feelings like pain, itch, or anything else, because robot did not have the nervous system; they just have the manipulator and systems that controlled them.
When she realized that she was a robot, she accepted it gladly. Robot was a creature that could supply helps to people, which she took great pleasure from it.
But something became strange in her on one day.
“Maria, I want to give you a present as your birthday gift.” said Clement with a pleasant smile.
“Thanks a million, master.” said Maria.
“Oh, do not be so polite to me, and… how many times must I tell you that do not call me master? Just Clement will do.”
Clement said, he was so modest that even allowed his creation to call his name.
Maria knew it very well. Her master is so good that she wanted to call him master- to show her respect and admiration.
“Now, close your eyes and I will hold your hands and take you to somewhere. Just follow me.” Clement said tenderly.
“Confirm command.” said Maria as she closed her “eyes.”
“Good.” said Clement as he led Maria to a place slowly.
Maria heard bird singing when she followed him.
“You can open your eyes now.” said Clement as he stopped walking.
Maria then opened her eyes.
The scene in front of her occupied her memory greatly, though she did not know why.
It was really a beautiful garden with all kinds of roses.
Amazingly, it also contained blue roses, which Clement cultivated. People said that blue rose is a kind of rose that none of the botanist and experts could ever cultivate.
Suddenly, Maria did not know what to say. Maybe she has some bugs on her system or her computer had a crash because of the lack of memory.
“Love it?” said Clement as he gazed at Maria.
Maria did not respond him. She just walked near the roses to enjoy the beautiful sight.
“Could you tell me what is love, Clement?” asked Maria in a low, thrilling voice. It sounded as if she was nervous.
“Um… It’s an emotion from human beings.” answered Clement.
“May robot have it?” she asked as she looked Clement with a strange expression.
Clement was amazed by the question she asked. He then smiled and said. “Maybe someone might teach you it how to love someday.”
Maria did not understand what he meant. Could love be taught? Is love not a subject that already implanted in her computer?
Maria spent most of her time with Clement. Clement treated her very well, and was very protective toward her, like she was a delicate rose that could be hurt easily. But she was a robot, which she clearly knew; she might even stronger than Clement if it refered to the inside of the body.
